Manufacturers don't always make it easy. Here's what to look for when shopping for honest, simple litter.
Good Signs
- Short ingredient list (fewer is better)
- "Unscented" or "fragrance-free"
- "99% dust-free" claims
- Natural materials listed first
- Clear, specific ingredient names
Warning Signs
- "Fresh scent" without specifying source
- "Odor-fighting technology" (vague)
- Long lists of chemical names
- "Proprietary formula"
- No dust claims at all
